Papertrey Ink: Win It Wednesday!

Hello All

It has been a long time (more than a year) since I last posted-life has just been hectic to say the least. I now have too much time on my hands as I have been dealt a rotten deck of cards. I am forced to play the game of Cancer! As I sit here in my room at the Phoenix, Arizona Cancer Treatment Center of America, I am happy that I brought along some of my stamps and dies. A bonus, is that some of my Papertrey Ink Stamps came along for some fun and therefore, I am able to participate in the Papertrey Ink "Win It Wednesday" challenge.

The challenge rules are to create a card using your favorite card layout. My favorite is always to layer, layer, layer and I almost always use ribbon! My go to is usually to put a sentiment at the bottom of the card and sometimes on a tag.

Here is my card:

For my card, I used Papertrey's "Make It Market Kit," Don't Forget to Write stamp and die set. I added some pink seam binding ribbon and some sequins from my stash that I brought along with me.
I took my photo outside on the grounds of the center. It was an overcast day and so the color is definitely not as prominent as the card is in person. The grounds here have some beautiful flowers and plants, so I had a nice backdrop next to a fountain of beautiful yellow flowers.
This was a fun card to make and definitely took my mind off the side affects of cancer. I hope you enjoy it and come play along!

Papertrey Ink: 11TH ANNIVERSARY DAY 8: FEBRUARY RELEASE DAY 3 + COLOR CHALLENGE

Today is Papertrey Inks 8th day release and today is a COLOR CHALLENGEI decided to play along (yahoooo, another day to play-I can't believe it! I barely have time to open my craft room door these days, let alone find time to play too!) Super excited to play along with this fun color challenge. Using the color recipe cards provided on the page (linked above), I chose to use Laurie Schmidlin's color recipe card, because I love the fun vibrant colors. This color combo includes:
PTI colors, Pure PoppyOrange ZestHarvest GoldGreen ParakeetHawaiian Shoresand Amethyst Allure

Oh, so much fun!!! I decided to make a friend a card who has been and is a huge part of the success of our mentor team at work. She supports us monthly with a team meeting and always has a positive twist to our many frustrations we face daily. I can't say loudly enough, how appreciative I am of her.
I hope this card brings her bunches of colorful sunshine, just as she brings to our team!

I used PTI's Flower Power Stamp Set and Die, along with Stamper's Select White CardstockGreen Parakeet Cardstock and

Bitty Big: Green Parakeet Color Collection

Here is a close-up of the details. Enjoy!!!

Have a great day!

Papertrey Ink: 11th Anniversary Day 7: DIES – NO STAMPS! CHALLENGE

Hello Friends-

I am excited that I have found a day to create and play in my scrap room. With that, then came the decision of what I would create and what inspiration might I find when scouring my favorite designers and companies.

I am always excited to see what Papertrey Ink has in store and so I headed to their new blog to see what was new and exciting . This month they are celebrating their 11th Anniversary. On the 7th day release for the month, the challenge is to use ONLY dies to create the project.

Oh, my, no stamps? So, I started to scour my die collection from Papertrey and had many pulled out to pick from-oh-too overwhelming, so what was I to do? Well, I decided that since Valentines Day is this next week, what better card to create, than one of Love! With that thought in mind, I pulled all  my Valentine dies out and here is the end result. I am going to give this to my mom to tell her how much I love her and appreciate all she has done and does for me daily.

The patterned paper used on my card is from Authentiques "Lovely" collection. The card base is PTI Perfect Match Berry Sorbet Cardstock.

For the heart, I used the Enclosed: Heart Die with a scallop heart behind to accent it. I covered the center patterned paper with a vellum heart and then cut the word "Love" out of True Black Card-stock

For the flowers, I used PTI wool felts in  Berry SorbetAqua Mistand Simply Chartreuse. The buttons are also from PTI and are Hawaiian Shores and

Sweet Blush

I so enjoyed making this card and the process of creating, and I can't wait to give it to my mom this week to show her how much I care and appreciate her. I hope you enjoy it too!

Happy Valentines Day to all,
Heidi

Papertrey Ink: MAKE IT MONDAY #256: SPRITZED STAMPS

Hello Friends-

Wow! Where have the last couple of months gone? I can't believe it's the end of July and I have had little crafty time in the last couple of months. I had this week off work (much needed, I must say) and I definitely wanted to fit in some card making.

Melissa Philips, over at Papertrey Ink had a weekly challenge with a technique I had not tried before, so what a perfect option for making a card and indulging in some me time! Melissa has a great video (as always), showing how to spritz your stamps to get a unique flair to stamping. If you haven't seen it yet, click here.

Here is my card:

Recipe:
Papertrey Stamp and Dies: Garden Variety
Papertrey Paper: Pale Peony, Stampers Select White
Papertrey Inks: Simply ChartreusePale Peony, Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet, Summer Sunrise,                              Soft Stone, Smokey Shadow,  and Classic Kraft
Papertrey Ink Button: Hawaiian Shores
Papertrey Ink Die: Tag Sale #8
Miscellaneous: "Garden Party" by Pebbles-Patterned Paper, Seam Binding Ribbon, Twine, Doily

I used the spritzing technique on the flowers and grass in the watering can. It is a small stamp, so it doesn't show the technique well in the photo, but it was a fun and easy way to change up a stamps look!

Enjoy and thanks for stopping by. Now go get crafty yourself and stop by PTI blog to see what others are creating with this technique.

See you soon-
Heidi

Papertrey Ink: MAKE IT MONDAY #251: GRADIENT WATERCOLOR DIE CUTS

Hello good friends

I sure hope everyone has had a wonderful 3 day weekend in remembrance for all those who have served our country. We enjoyed a quiet weekend and today went to our son's for a B-B-Q with our 4 children, their families and our grandchildren. Two of our children were in the military and one of our son-in-laws. Thankfully they are all home now and safe. It is always nice to have outdoor events, as it is a busy place when we all get together now with so many grand kids (9 and one on the way)-love them all dearly!

When I returned home, I immediately went to the computer to see what this week's MIM challenge was on Papertrey's "Capture the Moment" Blog. Today, Dawn McVey is showing a great video on how to create a  "Gradient Watercolor" technique. You can check it out here.

I love this technique for two reasons-
       1. It is relaxing to create using this technique
       2. It's fast and easy!

Here is my card, using the "Butterfly" Cover Plate. This is easily one of my favorite cover plates from Papertrey.

I used PTI inks:

The sentiment is from "A Little Inspiration," also from PTI. I am giving this card to a co-worker. She and I have to constantly remind one another that our jobs are new to the organization, and at times a little disorganized and frustrating. We have a slogan to help us "Remember," it will get better! Our slogan has been "We are flying the plane as it is being built!" I keep adding "I think we might have put the wings on upside down and backwards!" HAHA......

PTI has a great little saying in this set that was perfect for our journey in this new job position and I thought it would make her chuckle!

This was a great technique and a fun card to put together!

See you soon-

Papertrey Ink-MIM #250-- "Masked Backgrounds"

Hi There Friends

I put together a very quick card this afternoon to enter in Papertrey Ink's "Make-It-Monday" weekly challenge. This week Laurie Wilson has shown how to mask around the edges of your card making a quick technique to make a border around your card. It is a very simple idea, and yet one that provides a nice frame for the card background. If you are not familiar with this technique, check out her video here

After masking off my card edges, I used Papertrey's Premium Ink colors of Mint Julep, Vintage Jadeite, and Green Parakeet. The flower is made with Berry Sorbet and Hibiscus Burst felt, and I used Simply Chartreuse for the leaves. The flower die I used is,  Beautiful Blooms 2 Die Set, and Lovely Layers. For the wording, "Be Fearless," I used the stamp and die from the Be set.

This was a relaxing and fun card to make. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it!

Have a great Memorial Weekend
Heidi

REVERSE CONFETTI-SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY (#36-MAY 2016)

Hello Friends and Family

Ha-----It has been a busy last couple of months for me, both at home and at work, so, I have not had much time leftover for card making or scrapping. I took a much needed vacation and I finally had a chance this month to get a couple of cards made.

Reverse Confetti, is one of my favorite stamp companies, and I love finding time to create a card or two for their monthly challenge. This month, I made sure to use this challenge to my advantage and get ahead of the game personally to get a baby card made for my daughter-in-law (not due until late summer)-so a HUGE smile on my face, I actually made a card before it is needed. That doesn't happen often for me!

The design for the Reverse Confetti challenge
36_May2016

My take on the design:

I used the "Lift Me Up" stamp set. This set is absolutely adorable and I think the cutest baby or child stamp set I own! I colored the giraffe, bird and presents with Copic markers (sorry I didn't write down the colors used). I also used: "Top O' the Tag" Confetti Cuts Die to mount my little giraffe on and some fun papers from my stash!

A fun little sketch this month, and I am happy that I now feel so ahead of the game with getting this card done so far in advance!

See ya soon-
Heidi

EDIT: I'm bummed-I posted this 1 hour too late to enter challenge! Oh-well, such is my life-(late)-HA!
