Unimaginable

I'm having a very hard time this weekend doing anything productive. Friday’s horrific events in Newtown, CT have me stunned and paralyzed. To go on with mundane activities of everyday life, or even Christmas shopping or creating, seems beyond my capabilities and even offensive.

I've been a preschool teacher and mentor teacher for over 20 years. We've practiced these "intruder, or I call them----bunny in the hole" drills numerous times. And, I will admit, I have felt frustrated with having to practice something so "out there and unrealistic." And, then try to explain to the children, why we’re practicing something that requires them to be crammed into a corner, to be quiet, in the dark while I lock the door and draw the blinds.

But, now, it's not unimaginable or unrealistic. It is someone’s reality. Many someone’s! I can't even imagine the terror, the emotion, the utter disbelief that went through those teachers minds. The children were probably unable to really process what was happening. But the teachers.... they knew exactly what was coming. They had time to think it through. They had time to think about their own kids or their own friends in other parts of the building. Unimaginable!!!!

I can now fully understand what makes a Hero. What would I have done? How would I have reacted? Would I have been as brave? Would I have been able to hold it together to do what needed to be done?

I just don't know...

So, that's where I am this weekend, unable to create, or listen to Christmas music, or put up my tree. I sit here and every time I turn on the TV and hear more, I just cry! How can I go on knowing how my "job" has now changed, Greatly! I guess it really hasn't changed, but my understanding of it and my responsibility has definitely changed.

I leave you with an address I found on-line, pray for those lives lost, for the families that are left behind and for the world to be a safer place to send our children each and every day to get an education. Please send a card to let them know we care and our thougths and prayers are with them.

TIME!!!!

Hello Friends-

Oh MY!!!!! Time, I never have enough of that, especially at the holiday time! The children in my class are full of wonderment, laughter, Exuberance, and GERMS!!! Needless to say, they have been very kind to share the later (GERMS)-with whom else? ME-oh so lucky ME! I love my kiddos :)

But with that, I am now delayed on a couple of classes, and hopeful projects that I must come to terms with, just aren't going to happen! :(

BUT.....I have some FABULOUS (If I do say so myself) projects coming right after the first of the year~ Keep your eyes aglow, as I s...l...o...w...l...y post sneak peek pictures of these events and classes for the future!

Give Thanks Mini Album

Hello Friends-

Rock, Paper, Scissors has a monthly challenge club. For 10$ a month you are supplied with papers, embellishments, and usually ribbon. Each month is different and you are required to use at least some portion of each item in the kit to create either a card, scrapbook layout or a 3-D item. It is totally up to you and you can add any of your own items, papers, etc. from your own personal stash!

Here is what I came up with for this month: (This kit contained Echo Park paper "Fall Fever.") I made a paper bag mini album. The cover is made with chipboard and I made a folded layered spine to create the page flaps for the bags to attach to. Each bag holds two tags to add photo's and journaling. There are several other little pockets made from tags on the different pages! It was a great time, simple (made in one evening and a portion of a morning)--sooo...enjoy!

Christmas Extravaganza

Wow-What Fun! I taught 3 cards at Rock, Paper, Scissors  last night. All of us Design Team members each created 3 cards (a total of 18) and 25 ladies participated in the event! So, I designed 3 cards, and cut out 75 for this class!!!!! Oh MY!

Christmas Kits

Hi Friends-

I will be teaching a couple of really cute Christmas Projects at an event in November. I know many of you will not be attending the event, and I wanted to give you the opportunity to purchase and enjoy these projects too!

The first is a fun Jumbo Bottle Cap Christmas Ornament. The kit, which includes everything you need to complete the ornament plus photos and instructions is $12.

 

 

The second kit is a 4x4 block. It includes everything in the kit to complete the Christmas Block. It comes already painted a marroon brick color that coordinates with the paper. Also included are instructions and a photo for $12.

Travel Camera Chipboard Album

Hi Friends-
I was given the opportunity to take the Travel Camera Chipboard Album from Scrapkit Studio and design it any way I chose. I used a lot of the kit materials that are included (stickers, papers, chipboard tags, etc.) and then I added my own flair as well. I used pieces and parts that I have had in my stash for quite a while, and then some newer lines that I had purchased recently at one of my favorite scrapbook stores.  I thouroughly enjoyed doing this kit! I added pictures from my Seattle trip last year!

As with all of Melinda's kits at Scrapkit Studio, she has included many fun elements in her designs.

Here is what I came up with! I hope you enjoy looking, as much as I had designing it! Thanks Melinda for giving me this opportunity!

I Love Fall

Here is my Make-N-Take project that I will be teaching over at "Rock, Paper, Scissors" on Oct. 13th at 6 pm. It is a fun little 4x4 canvas block that can sit on your desk, matel, in your kitchen window, or just about anywhere you please! It would make a great gift too!

Watch Me Grow

Hi Friends-

A while ago, I created a Growth Chart, that could be added to as my grand daughter grows. I never posted that project, so thought I would share it now! I used a tape measure to attach the panels and create the grow chart. Each panel has pockets with cards to document and add more photos. It is so much fun now that it has pics on it (but I don't have pictures of it that way), but a photo goes on the front of each panel ontop of the square of designer paper, tucked under the embellishments.

 

And here is a sample of tags that are added to a pocket. You can add more photos, and jounaling to each of the tags.

I hope you enjoyed this fun project! I have a Fall Block that I just finished up and will add photos of later today. I designed it for "Rock, Paper, Scissors Scrapbook store" for their Fall/Halloween Make-N-Take! So stayed tuned later today to see more fun!

Hi Friends-

I am so ready for Fall and all that it brings with it! I am in the mood to create all the those fun layouts, cards and play with the Fall colors! I have a layout, that I did a while ago, that I never posted and thought you might be in the mood for some Fall fun too!

 

Sorry for the glare on the haunted house, it was a smokey day here in N. Ca. when I took the photos and my camera insisted on the flash no matter how I set it! UGH!  Any way, I can't wait for halloween and the fun photos I can have to add to this layout!
