The Shabby Tea Room- #206 "Baby"

Hello Friends-

So, I am trying to get caught up, organized, work all day, and stay sane! LOL (or I might cry)!

This week our challenge here at The Shabby Tea Room, is the theme "Baby." How fun and what great joy this week gave me.

Not only did I get a little organized, so I could play catch up, but I also found out my daughter is expecting her 3rd baby! She lives in Georgia, as her husband is in the military, and so I don't get to see them often, but we talk weekly/daily/or as often as possible with her busy life! It is a miracle that she can even have children, as she has a condition called Factor V Leiden. This is a genetic trait, and causes blood clots, which in turn causes miscarriages when pregnant. It took 4 very painful miscarriages to discover the problem. In order to continue the pregnancy, she has to give herself shots daily to keep from miscarrying.

So, needless to say, we are all very happy, but nervous, and this challenge was perfect timing!

Here is our inspiration photo for the week. So shabby, and fun and full of wonderful baby colors!

Our sponsor this week is Creations by AR.
We were able to choose a 3D template that goes along with this week's theme "Baby."

I chose a baby onesie to work with as my card base. I think my card is leaning more towards a girl??? (we won't know for a while, as she is only a couple of months along). What do you think?

Well, either way, I am sending it to wish her congratulations! She has two beautiful little girls already, but we don't care, as long as it's healthy! Love you daughter dear.

Have a great day, and come play along too in The Shabby Tea Room challenge this week!

Shabby Tea Room Challenge #205 "Sketch This"

Hi All-
I am a week behind!!!!! :(

Even though this challenge was last week, I will be making and posting a card later today! I have been moving and all my materials were boxed and in transit or at my new place, with no idea where they were at?
Here was our challenge photo. We were asked to create a card/project using this sketch.

The sponsor this week was "Paper Temptress"  She carries some great papers and we were able to choose from her wide collection, some pieces to work with.

Stay tuned to see what I come up with (a week late-so sorry)!
Have a great day!
Heidi

Shabby Tea Room #204 "All That Glitters In Love"

Hey there friends-

I can't believe it is February already-Wow! This week over at The Shabby Tea Room, I am the hostess this week. I chose the theme, "All That Glitters In Love." I found this adorable inspiration photo that was just perfect for the title of the theme.

I am asking that you use this photo to jump start your creativity this week, along with the colors pink, red or burgandy, hearts, flowers and glitter. A girl can never have too much of these things. Don't you agree! I had fun with this challenge, but under a little time constraint this week, and had to quickly get it done and low and behold forgot my favorite sponsor for the week! (Soooooo sorry Debbie)!

Here is my card (I will make a new one on Tuesday to post with "Paper Sweeties" product! (Stay Tuned for the fun!)

I decided to make a valentines Shaker card for this week challenge. I love the combination of colors and the fun whimsy of the glitter, hearts and flowers!

Here is the shaker up close (filled with paper hearts, glitter, bead sequins, and little glitter hearts! So much fun and I love how it turned out (if I do say so myself)~ :)

Our sponor this week is Paper Sweeties!

If you have never been over to the Paper Sweeties blog and store, then you must check it out! Debbie has created the cutest stamps ever! LOVE THEM. They remind me of my childhood and all the days spent playing with paper dolls.

Hop on over to The Shabby Tea Room, and let us see what you come up with for this weeks challenge!

And don't forget that we are also looking for a couple new Design Team members to join us in the fun for the next term!

Have a great week-
Heidi

The Shabby Tea Room #203 "Warm and Cozy"

Hi Friends-

Here in The Shabby Tea Room, Aneta has challenged us with a great inspiration photo, perfect for those cold cuddle in your blankie, with a warm cup of mojo (if only it were cold here in Northern CA.)!

Aneta asked us to use cups/kettles lots of white/cream. I loved the added inspiration in the photo of the yarn and knit covers, so of course I had to try and mimic that as well. Here is what I came up with:

Our sponsor this week is Digital Papers by Janet Etsy!
I used the "Zig Zag Knit" die from poppystamps.com. I love the fun knit design it created for my background behind the teacup and teapot. I also used Paper Sweeties:
It's Tea Time for my sentiment. Of course, I also had to use a sleeve from Starbucks that I opened up and used the inside for the coragated texture (can't do without my "Green Ice Tea" each day from my favorite bistro)! I love how it all came together and hope that you will join us in some fun this week over in The Shabby Tea Room.

Come and create with us-
Heidi

MIA-WOW! Let's Get Caught Up

Hello Friends-

Wow-I know, I have been MIA for a little over a month! So, here is the scoop-"I definately HATE technology at times!" My computer is down, and I have had to find other ways of posting to The Shabby Tea Room Design Team challenges. I know everyone is tired of my asking if I can come and borrow their computer for a minute, while I send off my project to Debbie and post on our DT blog! Thanks DT members and Debbie for being understanding and patient with me!

So, I want to get you all caught up with all my past projects to date!  You can click on ea. challenge title to go to that weeks challenge and see all the DT projects, along with the guest designer for the week and the inspiration photo!  ENJOY!!

Challenge #196- "Noel"

I gave this card to my mom for Christmas. It is one of my favorites that I have done in a while! I love the colors and the digi from Janet was perfect! Debbie was the hostess for this challenge and the theme was "Noel." She asked us to use buttons and polkadots.

This little gingerhouse was created with a digi cut file from AR Creations. It was fun to create and I enjoyed having it on my mantel at Christmas! Aneta was the hostess for this challenge and she asked us to use the theme "Sweet Christmas" with a digi file from AR Creations, red, white, gingham and gingerbread.

I love the soft colors of this card. I was the hostess for this challenge. My theme was "A few of my favorite things." I asked the DT to use buttons, snowflakes, silver and white! I used a texture paste and plate to get the background design on my card. This is a fun technique that makes like a suede type feel to the card-love it!

Happy New Year!
Lesley was the hostess for this challenge and she chose a "Color Challenge" as the theme. She asked us to use the colors: black, kraft and vanilla, and a digi cut file from the Cutting Cafe.  I love the elements of my card!

Linda was the hostess for this challenge, and she chose the theme, "So Romantic." She asked us to use Paper Sweeties products, and include roses. I chose to use paper with roses printed on it, rather than adding a rose flower. I added a cute little flower to little Abigail.

Tina was the hostess this time around, and her theme was a sketch. She asked us to use the sketch, along with the inspiration photo. The sponsor for this challenge was Ribbon Carousel. I was soooo, ready for some fun colors of pinks, reds, white and black. So, I made a vintagy valentine card! I love how it turned out!

Debbie was the hostess for this challenge. Her theme was "Baby, It's cold outside!" The inspiration photo was a door with a wreath and ice skates. I mimicked it somewhat, and love how it came together! (Sure wish we had some VERY much NEEDED rain and cold weather here in Northern CA). We are now under a drought and have been having Red Flag Warning Days for fire watch! Man, its January people!!! Pray for RAIN!!!!!
Debbie asked us to use white, green, silver, a red bow, and a digi file from Bugaboo.

So now, you are all caught up (or rather I am!) Thanks for hanging in there with me, and I am hoping to be able to post more regularly, as I am hoping to get a computer in the next week or so!

Make sure to check out "The Shabby Tea Room" blog and play along with us each week in the weekly challenge! We have a blast, and love seeing all your creative work.

Have a GREAT weekend, (I am enjoying out 85 degree weather and playing lots of tennis)!

The Shabby Tea Room-Challenge #195- "Terrific Tags"

Good Monday Morning Friends-

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving with family or friends this year! It was a busy time in my house with 3of my 4 children, spouses and of course all the grandkids! It was a great day with us all together and I loved every minute!

Back to reality.....

This week in The Shabby Tea Room, Tina has offered this wonderful inspiration photo for us to work from, and asks that we create a card or project and to include a "Tag."  I just love making tags, at this time of year especially!

Our sponsor this week is:

If you haven't been over to Paper Sweeties and checked out all the fun stamps and dies-then you must hurry over-sooooo cute and fun to work with!

For my project this week, I made a fun wintery tag, perfect for the upcoming season of winter frost and Christmas wrappings!

This tag is a small tag and I used Paper Sweeties: "Let It Snow" stamp set. It is the perfect size to attach to a gift bag.

I also created a larger tag to go with it, that is the perfect size to go on a large box. Both of these tags will be going to the same recipient, and so I wanted them to match!

The wintery, blustery weather always gets me in the mood to create, and with that comes lots of mojo! These cards came into my mind quickly as I began creating! I can't wait to put them on thier packages and give them away!

Be sure to stop by The Shabby Tea Room, and see all the wonderful creations the design team has dreamed up this week and then join the fun too-we would love to see what you come up with this week!

Happy creating,
Heidi
