City Crafter Challenge Blog Week 176 ~ Daisy Daisy..... (of a bicycle build for two)

Hey There Friends-

Hope all is well. I have been very busy creating projects (some which I can't show yet), and choosing challenge themes and inspiration photos for upcoming months during my DT term at The Shabby Tea Room.

Today, I want to share a card I made for City Crafter's Challenge. The theme this week is to use a bicycle on your project. This is the inspiration photo!

I love all the details of this bike, with all the scrolls in the wheel and basket. The flowers are soooo pretty!

So here is my take on this fun challenge this week!

I used my PTI stamp and matching die "Pedal Pusher" to cut the bicycle out (Love this set)! For the papers, I used MME "Follow Your Heart-Be Amazing" 4x4 paper pad. I used "Melon" seam binding ribbon and twine. The cute little "hello" tag is a punch and stamp set "Tiny Tags" from Stampin' Up.

This little card took me on a little trip back in time, as I was creating it! I used to spend hours riding my bike as a child-loved it!

Thanks for stopping by-enjoy your day-

I'm A Shabby Girl!!

Hi Friends-

I have been keeping a little secret, and I am so thrilled that I finally can tell you all-I am head over heals, with excitement and joy!!

I have been asked to be on The Shabby Tea Room Design Team! Yahooooo!!!!

I fell in love with this challenge blog a couple of years ago, and have always wished to be a part of this fabulous group of talented ladies! It's right up my alley-perfectly shabby! If you know me, my first love is always the vintagy, shabby look! I love making shabby cards and projects, and so this is such an honor!

I hope you will join me in all the fun each week-you never know, you might win some fun prizes, while creating your shabby designs!

Here is the card I entered to be considered a part of this fabulous team of talent!

Thanks so much Debbie for asking me to be a part of all the shabbiness! :)

Have a great day-and check back next Monday (Sept. 14th) for my first DT project!
Happy Crafting-

You're A Hoot!

Hi Friends-

I will be partaking in a Make-n-Take at Rock, Paper, Scissors on October 5th. Each of the Design Team members have created a fun little project for you to make a take home with you that day. There will be food, and fun to be had by all. Call Misty at 221-8430 to reserve your space (limited number able to participate)! Don't miss out, as space will fill quickly!

I am providing the supply's to make this cute little photo frame. It holds a wallet sized photo, perfect for those school photos. I can't wait to add a photo of one of my grandkids (will have to make a cute frame for each of them!)

Tune back in tomorrow evening for a class project that I am finishing up, that I will be teaching at the end of September!

Have a crafty weekend-

Cottage Roses and Gingham

Hi Friends-

An update: My card recieved the "Spotlight Artists Award!" :)

Hope you are having a fabulous Labor Day weekend! My plan is to play as much as I can these three days, as I won't have another break for a while!

So, I found this new challenge blog (well, new to me anyway)! I love it! It's called City Crafter Challenge Blog.  Each month they have a new twist on a challenge and what fun I have seen they have had in the past!!!

This week Design Team member, Char has asked that you creat with "Cottage Roses and Gingham." Her comment, "Roses and Gingham are two of my favorite card combinations." I have to admit, that I too, love gingham and roses! So, of course, I had to stop everything and create a card to showcase these two great combos!

I used My Minds Eye- "Miss Caroline (gingham), October Afternoon Farm Girl (yellow polka-dot, and floral) papers. I stamped and die cut the cabbage rose and leaves with Papertrey Ink "Rosie Posie and Rosie Posie Step 2 (LOVE this set)! I love the color combo of this card, warm and fuzzy is how I felt as I created this card.

Go check out what the other DT members have created and have some fun yourself too!

Tea Party Picnic-Week #181

Hi Friends-

This week at the Shabby Tea Room, Debbie has provided the inspiration photo with the theme "Tea Party Picnic." The guidelines for this challenge are to use the colors in the photo along with flowers and a tea theme.

This week's prize sponsor is "The Cutting Cafe." They carry great cutting files and stamps. Check them out!

I had a hard time deciding on what direction to go with this challenge, as I have the cutest little picnic basket stamp and die set I could have used. But, then I remembered I am going to have tea with a friend on Monday, and I could make something to surprise her with when we get together!

I chosen made a pillow box to put some little tea cake cookies in to share with her when we go to tea on Monday. I can't wait to give it to her! :)

I die cut the little pillow box and then embossed it with a circle folder. I rubbed ink over the top to distress it. I made my flower and distressed the edges with a brown ink. I love the way it turned out, and now off to the store to get my tea cake cookies to slip inside (or maybe I will see if I have all ingredients and make them)!

Have a great weekend-

Papertrey Ink Stamp-A-Faire Projects

Hi friends-

What a great time my mom and I had creating cards with some of the techniques that the fabulous design team from Papertrey Ink came up with. There were 10 techniques taught throughout
the day, but with all of our gabbing and eating, we only managed to create 4. I can't wait to try out the rest!
Here is what I came up with-Enjoy!

This first card we used homemade spritzing spray. Very easy to make, so no more buying the expensive stuff! I embossed the flower ("Wild Flower Garden") with white embossing powder and then spritzed with PTI's Royal Velvet. I then colored in some of the blank areas with my markers to give even more dimension to the leaf and flower.  I loved this easy peasy technique-so fun!

Here is my moms card. I loved how it turned out! She used "Reasons To Smile" a new set (not yet released) from PTI. Love this set!

She did all the same techniques as I did and then added a fun spellbinders die
And she added pearls to the centers of some of her flowers!

The next technique we played with was a shabby chic flower (my favorite)! PTI Design team member, Melissa Phillips showed how to tea stained some muslim fabric. Then after it had dried, I cut out all elements of my flower, stamped the petals with different wording stamps, and then assembled the flower.
Here is my finished card. I love making my own flowers and most of the time that's what I end up doing so I can get just the right flower for my project! So now I have another technique to add to my bag of flower making tricks- oh how happy that makes me!

I used several layers with so many different textures and I love the result!!!

The next technique was using paper clay. I've always wanted to try this, but have just never taken the time! Well, silly me, it's super simple and so fun to play with! First I colored the clay with two colors (black and turquoise). With the turquoise, I placed it between two layers of velum and die cut a flower. Then I carefully pulled the cut flower layers apart and let it air dry. After all were dry, I layered them together with additional die cut flowers of plain velum. Ooohhh another flower making technique for my stash--so excited! I also pressed a  butterfly die into the clay and let it dry slightly and then cut it out with my scissors! I love it!

The last technique I had time for was making your own scratch and sniff powder. I used a vanilla scent because I couldn't get a very strong gingery scent or pumpkin scent-hmmm...oh well! It was fun to try and the vanilla is very strong! I made a little tag and used a new set by PTI "Scent-imentals," another new set not yet released!

Hope you enjoyed and have a great day!

Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-Faire Day

Hi Stampers-

I am soooooo excited, today is my first Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-Faire. I've purchased the kit, prepped my materials, and now I am ready to go with a fun filled day of stamping and playing in my new room. I just moved into a new place, and have a new stamping, crafting room to play in (with boxes yet to be unpacked. Hmmmm.........if it's not put away yet, does that mean I don't need it?)

So, hopefully, I can find everything I might want to use for todays events! Ha....it may be a challenge, but I'm ready to have some fun-so here goes, wish me luck! I will post my projects by Monday!

Hoping you have a fabulous weekend and include some crafting fun too!
Heidi
