I have over time, had many friends, and followers ask me what my scrap space looks like and how I organize my tools and materials. I recently overhauled my space, and let me tell you- ahhhh what a joy it is to finally have the space I have always dreamed of having! It always makes me happy, when I can steal a minute or two to grab some paper, scissors, stamps and whatever else tickles my fancy at the moment.
I still have a long way to go, as it is a never ending project-LOL! Here is a snapshot of what it used to look like:
This was my computer work space, with paper and projects stacked under the work table. I also would stamp in this spot too! UGH!!!
This is where my printer sat, and the cupboard housed misc. kits and materials.
This is where I stored my ribbons, embellishments, dies, die cutting machine, some stamps and misc. (whatever could fit)
Here was my main work station. (OH MY GOSH- I don't know how I got anything done!) I had NO storage with this set-up, and so things were piled ontop of one another and under each other, as you can see it wasn't very conducive for creating, as I always felt overwhelmed!
This file drawer housed all kinds of misc. materials (it actually had no files-LOL)! And the closet, well we won't even go there :)
A much more user friendly space:
So now, (even though I have a lot I still want to do (as far as organization), it has come a long way!
We will start at the door and look across the room to the far corner (which isn't very far-the room only measures 10x12).
These tall cabinets, are where I store paper, kits, and albums. To the side of that starts my counters and drawers. Ontop of the counter is my cardstock (12x12) and cardstock (CS) scraps drawers. I house all my CS scraps in color drawers. It makes it so easy when working with a particular color to look in the drawer of that color first for a scrap before cutting into a 12x12 piece of CS. The first two drawers house all my Stampin' Up ribbons and embellishments. Stampin' Up papers are in two of the drawers separated from one another in clear 12x12 envelopes with smaller envelopes inside of these for the scraps.
Here is a snapshot of the inside of the tall cabinets (right now)- I will be going through and weeding out old papers and papers I know I won't use very soon! Like all of us-I have waaaaayyy toooooo much paper.
Here is a full view of my counter and drawers. My 8 1/2 x 11 Cardstock sits in the small paper divider on the counter. I house all of my embellishments (pearls, bling, buttons, twine, misc. embellishments, misc. tools, etc. in these drawers. My Grand Calibur sits here and my Accu-Cut machine sits in the corner.
This is my stamping space. My Stamps sit on the counter in the DVD case. The drawers below house all of my dies, and cutting elements. I also keep card kits (that I sell in my etsy shop) in one of these drawers. I love being able to open a drawer and pull out what I need when designing my card.
This is the workspace behind my work table. This is where I stamp also. All of my Stampin' Up ink pads, punches and papers are here. My SU papers sit right beside me in a rolling cart along with catalogs and order forms. The cabinets hold finished card samples, more stamps, and misc. kits ready to sell on etsy or at my classes.
So, as you can see, I have a small space with a lot going on! I will be posting more pictures of the insides of drawers and cabinets at a later time!
Have a great weekend-Heidi
