City Crafter Challenge Blog Week 178 - Flower Power

Hey Friends-

This week at City Crafters, Char has a great challenge lined up for us!

She is asking us to use this photo for inspiration, and to add a minimum of 5 flowrs and use at least 2 different backgrounds, either mixed media or paper backgrounds.

Wow-pretty photo-and great challenge! So, I set to work, my wheels were turning, and I thought, this is the perfect time to use one of my Prima Doll stamps and canvas, that I have been wanting to do for a while now! So, here is what I ended up with!

I used "Echo Parks, Hello Summer" paper pad, along with a variety of flowers, some handmade, others from various companies. I added some texture with a stencil from "My Favorite Things," and texture paste, washi tape, brads, vintage crochet lace, doilies, felt leaves, tulle, and a Prima Mixed Media Doll Stamp, by Julie Nutting. All of these elements were added to a 12x12 canvas frame.

Here are some close-ups of my girl, which I colored her skin and hair with my Copic markers, and paper pieced her clothing and added some tulle for a little extra fun between the layers of her skirt!

I made a little clay flower to attach to her headband and to the lace next to her feet! So much fun!

I had so much fun with this, and I love how it turned out! I never know what will happen when I start, as I just start tearing paper, and applying it to the canvas-no rhyme, no reason-just go for it, is my motto!

Hope you enjoyed it, and thanks for stopping by-

Shabby Tea Room-Challenge #185

Good Monday Morning Friends-

Fall is starting to show itself, a slight bit, here in the north state. So, this next challenge at The Shabby Tea Room, is perfect timing. Aneta has provided us this wonderful Fall inspiration photo to work with. The theme is "The Splendor of Fall!"

For this challenge, Aneta asks that we use "Apples," somehow on our project or card design. Now, I love rootbeer floats, but I went with the colors of the float, and the apples, and made a card with carmel apples-cause that just screams "Fall" to me, and I am in the mood for Fall!

So, this is what I came up with!

My card Recipe:

Papers: DCWV-"The Green Stack," Graphic 45-"French Country," and PTI-"Cardstock."

Stamps and Dies-PTI-"Friendship Jar," "Friendship Jar Fall Fillers."

Misc: Black Seam Binding Ribbon, Vintage Crochet Lace, Twine

The sponsor for this week's challenge prize is "Crafty Secrets."

They carry vintage images, stamps, as well as wonderful vintage CD's with all kinds of images ready to be printed off. Check them out and have some fun!

Check out what the Design Team members have for you to become inspired by this week!
Me (you are here:)

Have a great week, and join us in The Shabby Tea Room and play along with us this week!

City Crafter Challenge Blog Week 176 ~ Daisy Daisy..... (of a bicycle build for two)

Hey There Friends-

Hope all is well. I have been very busy creating projects (some which I can't show yet), and choosing challenge themes and inspiration photos for upcoming months during my DT term at The Shabby Tea Room.

Today, I want to share a card I made for City Crafter's Challenge. The theme this week is to use a bicycle on your project. This is the inspiration photo!

I love all the details of this bike, with all the scrolls in the wheel and basket. The flowers are soooo pretty!

So here is my take on this fun challenge this week!

I used my PTI stamp and matching die "Pedal Pusher" to cut the bicycle out (Love this set)! For the papers, I used MME "Follow Your Heart-Be Amazing" 4x4 paper pad. I used "Melon" seam binding ribbon and twine. The cute little "hello" tag is a punch and stamp set "Tiny Tags" from Stampin' Up.

This little card took me on a little trip back in time, as I was creating it! I used to spend hours riding my bike as a child-loved it!

Thanks for stopping by-enjoy your day-

Cottage Roses and Gingham

Hi Friends-

An update: My card recieved the "Spotlight Artists Award!" :)

Hope you are having a fabulous Labor Day weekend! My plan is to play as much as I can these three days, as I won't have another break for a while!

So, I found this new challenge blog (well, new to me anyway)! I love it! It's called City Crafter Challenge Blog.  Each month they have a new twist on a challenge and what fun I have seen they have had in the past!!!

This week Design Team member, Char has asked that you creat with "Cottage Roses and Gingham." Her comment, "Roses and Gingham are two of my favorite card combinations." I have to admit, that I too, love gingham and roses! So, of course, I had to stop everything and create a card to showcase these two great combos!

I used My Minds Eye- "Miss Caroline (gingham), October Afternoon Farm Girl (yellow polka-dot, and floral) papers. I stamped and die cut the cabbage rose and leaves with Papertrey Ink "Rosie Posie and Rosie Posie Step 2 (LOVE this set)! I love the color combo of this card, warm and fuzzy is how I felt as I created this card.

Go check out what the other DT members have created and have some fun yourself too!
Heidi
